NYMPHO Halloween - October 28th, 2022
Hosted by the same trio as the previous event (See: Nympho 2.0 (2021) - Installation Work), I was again given the opportunity to work alongside them, where this time around I assisted on both promo photoshoots. Here, I took the reins behind the camera and contributed to the creative direction in the Elam photography studio and in each location we scouted on the Maungawhau Road site.
The theme for the event was Halloween centric, though NYMPHO's previous aesthetics have always been a bit experimental, we really tried to lean into the spooky yet campy nature of the holiday. The two shoots humoured the idea of the NYMPHO cast as movie characters in a haunted house in precarious situations, like being stalked (or as the stalker), followed by more 'professional' photographs akin to collectable character cards, or the website where you can dress up as these said characters.
I shot these on both digital and film, with the digital shots being primarily used in the official promo imagery, with the film shots acting as a behind-the-scenes of sorts which were posted on the events instagram story in the lead up to the event. I really enjoyed being a part of this once again, I was able to take in a few more skills pertaining to professional lighting and equipment etc which is always lovely.
There's a mix of everything on this page, including some great shots that unfortunately didn't make the cut and additional BTS footage that I scrapped from the shoots that I'm saving to post on my own instagram page (@connorjaward).
